Overview

The Anime/Manga fan base has grown from a small but dedicated group of individuals into a fairly large group that is on the very edge of being recognized as being a somewhat mainstream entity. With more fans comes more discussion and dialogue, and also more points of view. However, in a curious trend, there are several issues that have always come to the mind of a typical anime fan when they are discussing it with other people. These topics are among the most hotly debated, and also most long-lived in all of anime/manga fandom, and some of these have no definitive answer either way even today.

This class will take a look at the anime/manga fandom and some of the most common recurring issues that have come up in discussion among them, regarding the state of the industry. Frank will help you take a quick look at fandom in general as well as lay out the arguments of each controversial issue. With these in hand, you'll have a better understanding of not only what issues keep coming up among the fans of anime/manga, but also why the "jury is still out" on them. Knowing these will hopefully help you even more when you come up on them with your fellow anime/manga fans!
